The Washington Post: Home tests become part of America's strategy to contain Corona

The Washington Post said that President Biden's plan to deal with the Corona epidemic, which was revealed last Thursday, is heading towards a sweeping expansion in conducting Corona tests, and aims to make rapid test kits cheaper and more affordable to obtain than ever before, as the country tries to calm the wave of infections that Driven by a delta variable.

Relying on test manufacturers to ramp up production, the administration wants to send hundreds of millions of rapid, at-home tests to local clinics, schools and other institutions across the country in hopes of making it easier to detect infections and contain outbreaks early. A number of major retailers have joined the effort, as they will offer at-home tests to consumers for less than two-thirds of the regular price in the next three months.

And the newspaper believed that the plan could help make testing and home care a more routine part of America’s strategy in dealing with the epidemic, which has so far relied heavily on laboratory tests to identify cases and guide public health decisions.

Rather than waiting days for slower but more accurate BCR results, more Americans may be taking the tests themselves before going back to school, going to weddings or attending conferences, and getting a result within minutes. This is part of a larger shift away from the restrictions that upended life last year, and toward individual measures aimed at helping people motivate themselves from the virus, which is not going away any time soon.
