The FA condemns racism against the trio Saka, Rashford and Sancho

The Football Association has condemned racist comments on social media about England players Boyako Saka, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, after losing the European Nations final at Wembley Stadium to Italy on penalties, Sunday evening.

Wembley Stadium hosted the two teams’ match in the Euro 2020 final, where England lost 3-2 on penalties, and the trio: Saka, Rashford and Sancho missed the penalty shootout, which deprived the England team of the first title in the competition, and the second in its history after the 1966 World Cup.

The trio was subjected to racist comments on social networking sites, by several accounts that sent them racist phrases and drawings of monkeys.

The FA expressed its dismay and disgust at the racist comments against the England players, and provided them with support and assistance.

A spokesperson for the FA said, “The FA condemns all forms of discrimination and is appalled by the online racism that has targeted some England players on social media. Anyone behind this disgusting behavior is not welcome to follow the team.

The spokesperson added: "We will do our utmost to support the players, and demand that the harshest possible penalties be applied against anyone responsible for these behaviours, and we will continue our efforts by doing everything in our power to eliminate discrimination, and we also urge the government to act quickly and issue appropriate legislation so that this violation has real consequences." .

The Football Association called on social media officials to combat racism, explaining: "These companies must intensify their efforts, take measures to ban attackers from their platforms, collect evidence that may lead to prosecution, and not launch their programs of this type of heinous violations."

The English players led a campaign against racism through the process of sitting on the knee before the meetings, and the British media boycotted social networking sites within 3 days to demand them to address racist comments, and open the door for the police to reach the account holders committed for these abuses.
