Statistics: a 17.9% increase in the value of French investments in Egypt during 2019/2020


The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics data revealed today, Monday, that the value of French investments in Egypt increased during the fiscal year 2019/2020, to record 349 million dollars compared to 296.1 million dollars during the fiscal year 2018/2019, an increase of 17.9%.

 

The value of trade exchange between Egypt and France recorded 2.2 billion dollars in 2020 compared to 2.4 billion dollars in 2019, a decrease of 6.9%, as the value of Egyptian exports to France reached 530.5 million dollars in 2020 compared to 654, 3 million dollars during the year 2019, a decrease of 18.9%, while the value of Egyptian imports from France recorded $ 1.70 billion in 2020 compared to $ 1.75 billion in 2019, a decrease of 2.4%. The Corona pandemic, which affected global trade.

 

Machinery and electrical appliances came at the top of the list of the ten most important commodity groups Egypt exported to France during the year 2020, with exports amounting to $ 138.2 million, fertilizers $ 134.5 million, organic chemical products $ 55.4 million, clothing $ 40.6 million, then Plastics and their articles 38.3 million dollars, then essential oils 14.5 million dollars, then vegetables and plants 13.4 million dollars, then fruits and fruits 10.2 million dollars, then glass and articles thereof 8.9 million dollars, and finally aluminum and its articles 8.3 million dollars.

 

Pharmaceutical products ranked first in the list of the ten most important commodity groups that Egypt imported from France during the year 2020, with imports amounting to $ 290.5 million, and cereals ranked second for $ 207.5 million, then cars, tractors, bicycles and parts thereof $ 166 million, then boilers and machinery $ 150.1 million. Then machines and electrical appliances $ 108.7 million, then various chemical products $ 100.9 million, then plastics and their products $ 64.7 million, then organic chemical products $ 64.2 million, then milk and products thereof, eggs and honey $ 54.3 million, and finally fuel, mineral oils and products of their distillation $ 49.8 million .

 

The value of remittances of Egyptians working in France amounted to 112.8 million dollars during the fiscal year 2018/2019 compared to 129.1 million dollars in the fiscal year 2017/2018, a decrease of 12.6%, while the value of remittances of French workers in Egypt recorded 11.6 million dollars during the fiscal year. Fiscal year 2018/2019 compared to $ 7 million during the fiscal year 2017/2018, an increase of 65.7%.
