An Iraqi delegation meets the National Governance Council to benefit from the Egyptian experiences in sustainable development



Dr. Sharifa Sharif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, today received an Iraqi government delegation of officials from the Ministries of Planning, Finance, Labor and Social Affairs in the State of Iraq headed by Dr. Maher Hammad Allam Johan, Undersecretary of the Iraqi Ministry of Planning; This is in order to learn and benefit from the Egyptian experiences in the field of governance and sustainable development; The delegation’s visit to Egypt will take place from February 1-5 this year.


During the meeting, Dr. Sherifa Sharif reviewed the role the institute plays as a training arm for the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, the Institute’s strategy and what it will offer during the coming period, and the institute’s methodology, which is represented in "governance for sustainable development."


Sharif also dealt with the discussion about the weekly series of awareness sessions that the institute provides on governance and sustainable development, and the delegation expressed its desire to participate in these sessions and benefit from them.


The Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development referred to the scientific journal that the institute is currently implementing under the title “Governance for Sustainable Development,” and the delegation expressed its admiration for the idea of ​​the scientific journal, and the attendees discussed the possibility of seeking assistance from professors from Iraqi universities in the fields of governance and sustainable development to participate in the magazine.


On the training methodology at the institute, Dr. Sherifa Sharif explained that the methodology depends on knowing the needs of the entity, with making an assessment before and after training to measure the training impact on the employee after his return to work, noting that the institute has held a group of international partnerships with the most prestigious regional and international bodies and universities to provide services Distinguished training, pointing to the training of about 31 thousand trainees during the past two years. The meeting also dealt with reviewing the nature of the work of the educational platforms of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development at the level of Egypt and Africa.


With regard to the Citizen Charter, Dr. Sherifa Sharif indicated that it is prepared in community partnership between the various sectors, where there are working and listening sessions with representatives of the private sector and civil society, pointing to the holding of 4 workshops and the remaining two workshops - remotely - for preparing and drafting a citizen's charter. It is honorable to refer to the Code of Occupational Conduct in which the same participatory approach was followed in its preparation and formulation.


The Iraqi delegation expressed its interest in the "development ambassadors" initiative launched by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development in cooperation with the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development to spread the culture of sustainable development and build national capabilities in this field through a series of trainings for young people from 18-35 years old.


During the meeting, Sherif reviewed reports of Egypt's position in the indicators of competitiveness, governance and sustainable development, and the progress achieved by Egypt in a number of centers in those indicators.


The Iraqi delegation started its tour by visiting the building of the Spatial Information Infrastructure Center at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development.
